James Richard Helmuth
May 9, 2002 ~ March 23, 2013

James lost his courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, March 23, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, Lisa, Jeff and Jack. Many of you will remember James and his family as James was honored during the 1st annual "Battle of the Badges" charity softball game last summer. Because of James and his love of sports and desire to help others in need, the Middleton Police, Fire & EMS Departments will continue to hold charity softball games each summer to benefit local charities, such as the Bager Childhood Cancer Network.

James loved to watch and play basketball and football and loved karate and swimming. James has many friends, including a special place in his heart for Bella, Buddy, and Sparkle - the family dog and two cats. James loves his big brother Jack and puts up with his silly Mom, Lisa, and Dad, Jeff. James enjoyed a full and happy life in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Services for James will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11am at St. Luke's Church, 7337 Hubbard Avenue in Middleton (map).

The family would like anyone who wants to, but especially the kids, to wear their favorite sports jersey to the service to honor James' insatiable love of sports trivia, teams and player stats. James loved his sports!

After the service, there will be a light luncheon/sharing time at the church where there will be videos, pictures, visiting and sharing stories if you'd like. Following this, the family invites everyone to Elm Lawn Elementary for a game or two of pick up basketball (or you can just have fun watching).
