Captain Troy Hellenbrand started his law enforcement career in 1994 with the City of Columbus Police Department. After a short stint with the City of Columbus, Captain Hellenbrand returned to his Dane County roots as he was hired by the Village of Shorewood Hills Police Department where he worked for approximately 5 years.
In 1999, wanting to return to the city where he grew up, Captain Hellenbrand was hired as police officer for the City of Middleton. During the past 15 years, Captain Hellenbrand has served in a number of different roles for the department including being a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Detective, Patrol Supervisor and until being promoted to Captain, the Detective/Sergeant overseeing the detective division. Additionally, Captain Hellenbrand has served as a member of the department’s training team for a number of years and holds certifications in firearms, defense and arrest tactics, Taser, fitness and ground fighting.
Captain Hellenbrand has a Bachelor's Degree from Madison College and is a 2008 graduate of the Northwestern University Staff and Command School.
Captain Hellenbrand volunteers as a coach for area football and baseball programs and enjoys any activity which involves the outdoors.
